Overview
Zinc (Zn) is chemical element 30, in period 4, group 12.
Zinc coatings and sacrificial anodes protect iron against corrosion. Zinc is also a component of brass. These uses involve different material arrangements and electrochemical roles rather than a change in the identity of the zinc atoms.
